Dr. Steven Allison

TITLE

Harnessing Microbiomes in a Changing Climate

BIO

Dr. Allison is a Professor of Ecology at the University of California, Irvine, in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a joint appointment in the Department of Earth System Science. Dr. Allison’s research addresses the resilience of microbial communities to drought and the impact of climate change on soil carbon cycling. By building new mathematical models, he analyzes feedbacks among microbial communities, carbon cycling, and climate change. Dr. Allison is a Fellow of the Ecological Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is also a Member of the American Academy of Microbiology and Editor-in-Chief at the interdisciplinary journal Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene. At the local level, he serves as a member of the Sustainability Commission for the City of Irvine.
